PRP injections are done in three steps: 1. To carry out the therapy, your own blood is drawn, likely from your arm. 2. That blood is then placed into a centrifuge to spin down into three layers: plasma rich in platelets, platelet-poor plasma, and red blood cells. The PRP will be used, and the rest will be tossed. 3. That PRP or “blood injection” is then injected into your scalp with a syringe after a local anesthetic has been applied.

PRP therapy is not a onetime solution; most people require several sessions to achieve visible hair regrowth. The number of sessions can vary, but providers typically recommend three to four PRP sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for optimal results. Maintenance treatments every six to 12 months are sometimes necessary for continued regrowth

Do not use any hair products for at least 6 hours after your treatment. Be sure to take a hot shower and wash your hair that evening, after the treatment, to promote the effects of PRP. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming for 2 days after your treatment. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking for 3 days after treatment.
